Movers at Grünerløkka
Grünerløkka is probably the district we move in most often. Small flats, a lot of people changing address, and stairwells that were not drawn for a three-seater sofa.
Tenement buildings from the 1890s, without lifts
The blocks around Olaf Ryes plass, Birkelunden and Markveien were mostly built between 1880 and 1900, back when this was workers' housing. The flats are small, the stairwells narrow, and lifts hardly exist.
What is particular about Løkka is the turns in the staircases. Many stairwells have half-landings that are just too tight for a sofa to go round the corner in its normal position – it has to be tipped on its end and rotated at the same time. Do it wrong, and it wedges halfway round. We have taken those turns many times.
Tram tracks and parking
Thorvald Meyers gate has a tram line, and the van cannot stand there. The same goes for parts of Toftes gate. The side streets have residents' parking, and you have to apply to Bymiljøetaten for an exemption well in advance if the van is to stand legally outside your door.
If we cannot get a space nearby, it means a longer carry on every trip – and since we charge by the hour, you are the one who notices. We will tell you what to apply for at your address.
Moving days on Løkka
A lot of people here rent, and most tenancy agreements run from the 1st. That means the end and the start of the month are busy for every moving company in Oslo. If you are moving on the 1st or the 15th, book a couple of weeks ahead – then you get to choose the time yourself.
If you are flexible and can move mid-month, it is both easier to get a slot and easier to get the van close to the door.
