Movers at Frogner

At Frogner the flats are large, the ceilings just as high, and the furniture to match. Here the job is less about stairs and more about handling things that will not take a knock.

Old lifts are often the problem

Unlike Løkka, many buildings at Frogner, Gimle and Skillebekk do have lifts. The catch is that they are original lifts from the 1920s and 30s: beautiful, but small. A three-seater sofa or a double bed base rarely goes in.

Then we carry down the stairs instead, and fortunately those stairs are wide here. We always check the lift dimensions before we plan the day, so we are not standing there experimenting while the hourly rate runs.

Things that need extra care

At Frogner we more often than elsewhere in the city move things that are not only heavy, but valuable:

  • Pianos and grands. We have our own equipment and people who have done it before. Read about piano moving.
  • Antique furniture. Old cabinets and chests of drawers do not take kindly to being carried by the top or the doors – we lift by the frame and wrap the corners.
  • Art and mirrors. Packed upright in their own crates, never stacked flat.
  • Chandeliers. Partly dismantled and packed, not transported whole.

If you have items of particularly high value, tell us in advance and we will handle them separately. Check at the same time that they are covered by your own insurance – our liability insurance is a basic cover, not a full insurance of your contents.

Larger homes take longer

A five-room flat at Frogner is not just bigger than a two-room – it usually contains considerably more. We more often recommend three movers here, not because the hourly rate is any lower, but because it ends up being fewer hours.

We are happy to come for a short site visit before large moves, so you get a realistic estimate instead of a surprise.

Large furniture gets plastic or a blanket before it goes into the van. On Frogner there is usually plenty of it.
