What we do on moving day
We turn up at the agreed time with a van, a trolley, furniture blankets and straps. Then it usually goes like this:
- We walk through the place with you and agree what is coming along and what is being thrown out.
- Large furniture is dismantled – beds, wardrobes, dining tables.
- Everything is carried down and loaded so that it stands firm during the drive.
- We drive to the new address and carry in room by room, following the labels on the boxes.
- The furniture is reassembled and put where you want it.
We tidy up after ourselves before we leave, and take away any packing material you are not keeping.
Do you need help with the packing too?
Most people underestimate how long packing takes. Moving out of a two-room flat, the kitchen and the wardrobe alone can easily swallow three evenings. We can pack everything for you, or just the awkward things – glassware, crockery, books and pictures.
We also deliver moving boxes and bubble wrap to your door a few days beforehand, so you can start at your own pace. You only pay for what you use.
Old tenement buildings are our everyday
Large parts of inner Oslo are pre-war tenement blocks: narrow stairwells, awkward half-landings and no lift. We move in buildings like that every week, and we know it is not about carrying faster, but about getting the furniture out the right way the first time.
If it is especially tight, we would rather add an extra person than spend twice as many hours. That usually works out cheaper for you.
Insurance – how it works with us
We hold liability insurance, and the statutory insurances for our staff and vehicles are in place. That covers our liability for the work we do. Please be aware that this is a basic cover – it is not a full insurance of your contents.
That is why we always recommend that you have your own moving insurance. Many people are already covered through their home contents insurance, so check with your insurer – or take out a separate moving insurance in addition. That gives you the best possible protection on moving day, and it is always what we recommend.
If something does happen while we are on the job, you take it up directly with us. We use our own employees, not hired hands, so there is never any doubt about who had their hands on the furniture.

Worth knowing before moving day
Book parking
If we have to stand in a street with residents' parking, an exemption must be applied for from Bymiljøetaten in good time. We will tell you what to apply for.
Label boxes by room
Write the room the box is going to, not what is inside it. Then we carry straight to the right place and you avoid moving them a second time.
Pack a box for the first evening
Chargers, bedding, toothbrush, coffee. That box should be the last thing loaded and the first thing carried in.
Empty the freezer in time
The freezer and fridge must be switched off and defrosted the day before, otherwise they cannot be transported lying down or upright without risk.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an ordinary move take?
A two-room flat that is already packed usually takes four to five hours with two movers, including the drive. With no lift and a lot of stairs it goes faster with three movers than with two – and it usually works out cheaper as well.
Do I have to pack myself?
No. You can pack everything yourself, let us take all of it, or give us just the awkward things – glassware, crockery, books and pictures. We also drop off moving boxes a few days ahead so you can start at your own pace.
Do you dismantle and assemble furniture?
Yes, ordinary dismantling and assembly of beds, wardrobes and dining tables is included in the hourly rate. The furniture is put back up where you want it at the new address.
Do I have to be there all day?
No, but it helps if you or someone you trust is there at the start and at the end – at the start to agree what is coming along, at the end to say where the furniture should go.
Do we need to arrange parking?
If we have to park in a street with residents' parking, an exemption has to be applied for from Bymiljøetaten well in advance. Tell us when we agree the date, and we will say what you need to apply for.
How quickly can you come?
Around the turn of the month, and especially 1 July and 1 August, the calendar fills up weeks ahead. Otherwise in the month we often have slots at short notice. Call and ask – it costs nothing.
